Dominican Day

Dominican Flg-Map

Today is the day of the festive and colorful Dominican Day Parade, accompanied with their traditional rhythmic music, marching down 6th Avenue in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan.  It is organized by the Dominican-American community and the first was in 1982. So that all Dominicans can share in the joy, it will be shown on TV throughout the Dominican Republic. Similar parades, but on a smaller scale, are held in Haverstraw-NY, Patterson-NJ, Boston, and also in the Bronx.
